Bulldogs Late Run Downs NWU 80-67

Concordia broke open a three-point game late in the second half and went on big run to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan, 80-67, in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Feb. 16) in Seward, Neb.

The loss is the 10th straight to Concordia for the NWU women as they fall to 10-14 overall and 6-11 in GPAC play. The Bulldogs improve to 14-15, 6-11 in GPAC.

NWU trailed just 55-52 with 9:25 to play as they had rallied from a double digit deficit. From there, Concordia went on a 19-5 run to get up by double digits and they never looked back.

It was the full court pressure by the Bulldog defense that allowed Concordia to lead 36-26 at halftime. NWU committed 16 first half turnovers in the first half.

Shea Rasmussen sparked a second half comeback for the Prairie Wolves as she went on a scoring run. She scored 14 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead all scorers.

Besides Rasmussen's 23 points, Katy Golden scored 13 points and Janelle Baal added 10.

Four Concordia players scored in double figures in a balanced attack. Kristin Miller and Kristen Conahan both scored 16 to lead the Bulldogs.

NWU will close out GPAC action this Saturday with a road trip to Sioux City, Iowa to play Morningside College.
