Nebraska Wesleyan University senior center Sadie Struebing reached the 1,000 point plateau Sunday afternoon (Jan. 23) in a 73-61 victory over Dakota Wesleyan.

Struebing (Brainard, Neb.) entered the game with 986 points and at the 3:28 mark of the second half she connected on the first of two free throws to get 1,000 points for her career. She finished the game with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds to give her 1,004 career points. Struebing is a three-time All-GPAC honorable mention selection and is currently averaging 14.7 points per game to rank second on the team in scoring.

Struebing, a East Butler H.S., graduate, is just the ninth Nebraska Wesleyan women’s basketball player to score at least 1,000 career points. She is the first NWU women’s basketball player to reach 1,000 points since Summer Allen accomplished the feat in the 2000-01 season. Struebing is ninth all-time at NWU in scoring and needs 38 points to climb up to eighth all-time.

She also is now fourth all-time in career rebounds with 692 for her career. Struebing also has 108 career blocked shots which puts her third all-time on the NWU charts.

Nebraska Wesleyan is 7-10 overall and 3-7 in GPAC play after winning back-to-back games. The Prairie Wolves host a pair of home contests this week against nationally-ranked opponents. NWU will play No. 6 University of Sioux Falls on Wednesday (Jan. 26) and then host No. 20 Briar Cliff University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 29) at Snyder Arena.
