women’s basketball player was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player-of-the-Week as senior center Sadie Struebing earned the honor for her play last week.
Last week junior guard Shea Rasmussen was named the AD3I Player-of-the-Week.
Struebing (Brainard, Neb.) averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in two games last week posting double-doubles in two NWU victories over Hastings College and Chapman University. Struebing tied a career-high with 24 points in the win at Hastings to open GPAC play. The win marked the first victory for the NWU women over Hastings in a game played at Hastings, and snapped a 20-game losing streak to the Broncos. She came back to score 16 points with 11 rebounds in a key NCAA III victory over Chapman on Saturday.
The senior from East Butler H.S., injured her head late in the victory Chapman and was kept out of the Colorado College game on Sunday afternoon. NWU lost to Colorado College, giving them their first loss of the season.
NWU is 5-1 on the season and the 5-0 start to the 2010-11 year was tied the best start in the history of Nebraska Wesleyan women’s basketball. The Prairie Wolves play at Briar Cliff University on Wednesday night in Sioux City, Iowa.
