Nebraska Wesleyan University junior guard Shea Rasmussen has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week.
Rasmussen (Longmont, Colo.) averaged 25.0 points per game as Nebraska Wesleyan opened the 2010-11 season with a perfect 3-0 record. She was named the NWU Tip-Off Tournament MVP after scoring a career-high 32 points with six 3-pointers in the championship game victory over St. Catherine’s University. She scored 50 total points in the tournament, and also had 25 points in the season-opening win at Buena Vista. She was also 23-26 from the free throw line for the week.
The Longmont H.S., graduate led the Prairie Wolves in scoring as a sophomore at 12.8 points per game. She has now reached double figures in scoring in 33 of 39 games that she has played in her three-year career.
Nebraska Wesleyan is off to a 3-0 start to the 2010-11 season, marking the first time in 10 years that a NWU women’s basketball team started the year 3-0. The Prairie Wolves open Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Tuesday (Nov. 23) at Hastings College.
