Nebraska Wesleyan got its first conference win of the season as they swept past Briar Cliff University, 3-0, in GPAC volleyball action on Friday night (Sept. 21) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln. NWU won in scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-17.
The Prairie Wolves (6-5, 1-2 GPAC) hit .264 as a team with 44 total kills and never trailed in the first two sets as they set the tone early.
Briar Cliff (9-8, 1-3 GPAC) led 4-0 in set three and kept their lead until a tie at 11-11. With the match tied at 13-13 the Prairie Wolves went on a 10-3 run and took any momentum away from the Chargers to complete the sweep.
Katelyn Walsh once again led the Prairie Wolves attack as she pounded out 15 kills with a .343 hit percentage. Walsh was the lone NWU player in double digits in kills, but Cicely Batie added nine and Hannah Softley eight.
Alex Springman dished out 35 assists, while Mackenzie Hite had 17 digs.
No BCU player had double digit kills as they were led by Kaly Iedema and Monica Boeding with nine kills apiece.
The Prairie Wolves will next be in action on Wednesday with a trip to Fremont, Neb., to face Midland.
