Hite Named GPAC Volleyball Defensive Player of Week

Nebraska Wesleyan junior volleyball player Mackenzie Hite has been named this week’s GPAC/Hauff Sports Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the week of Aug. 27-Sept. 2.Mackenzie Hite

Hite, a defensive specialist from Grant, Neb., averaged 7.38 digs per set on the week as Nebraska Wesleyan went 3-1 at the opening season Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona, Minn. Her match high was 40 digs in the victory over the host school, St. Mary’s (Minn.).

Hite was named to the Sugar Loaf Classic All-Tournament team, marking the second consecutive season she has earned All-Tournament team honors at the tournament. It is also the fourth straight tournament that Hite has received All-Tournament honors dating back to last season.

Nebraska Wesleyan dropped the first match of the season to 7th ranked St. Thomas but won the next three matches to start the 2012 season with a 3-1 record. The Prairie Wolves have the week off before returning to play on Sept. 11 with a match at Hastings College to begin Great Plains Athletic Conference play.
