Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball players Laura Brammeier and Elise Schmid were both named to the 2009 AVCA/Division III Central Region All-Region Team when the teams were announced (Nov. 13).
Brammeier and Schmid were two of the 14 total players selected to the All-Region Team.
Brammeier (Lincoln, Neb.) leads the team in kills averaging 3.52 kills per set. She also averages 3.59 digs per set to rank third on the team in that category. In matches against NCAA III opponents, Brammeier averaged 3.5 kills and 3.42 digs. The junior from Lincoln Southwest H.S., had a double-double in the Prairie Wolves opening round win over Wisconsin-Platteville in the NCAA III Central Region Tournament.
Schmid (David City, Neb.) has been a big force at the net for the Prairie Wolves all season long. She leads the team in total blocks with 124 averaging 1.15 blocks per set. She also has 214 kills with a team-high .302 hitting percentage. The senior from David City H.S., was very dominant against DIII competition averaging 2.08 kills and 1.23 blocks per set in 12 matches. She led the team in blocks in the opening round victory.
Nebraska Wesleyan is playing in the NCAA III Central Region Semifinals this afternoon (Nov. 13) against Carthage College (Wis.) for a trip to the Regional Championship.
