18th-ranked Morningside College wasted little time in defeating Nebraska Wesleyan as they downed the Prairie Wolves 3-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball action on Friday night (Oct. 30) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.  The Mustangs won in scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-18.

NWU, ranked No. 20 in the AVCA/DIII poll, was troubled with 11 service errors in the match.  The Prairie Wolves also hit only .103 with 23 attack errors.  Morningside, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA Poll, hit .156 as a team.

Neither team had a player reach double figures in kills.  The Mustangs were led by Liz Sutherland with nine kills and no errors for a .600 hitting percentage.  Elise Schmid paced NWU with nine kills and only one error.

The Prairie Wolves honored the four senior members of the team before the match.  The final regular season match of the year for NWU is Saturday (Oct. 31) when the Prairie Wolves host Briar Cliff University at 12:30 pm.  The match is the annual Dig Pink Event as NWU will wear pink uniforms to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
