#13 Northwestern Holds Off NWU in Volleyball

Nebraska Wesleyan took one set from No. 13 Northwestern College on Saturday, but the Red Raiders proved to be too much as Northwestern defeated NWU, 3-1, in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball action at Snyder Arena.

The match was part of the 2008 Homecoming activities on the campus of NWU. The Prairie Wolves wore pink uniforms on Saturday in part of the Dig Pink Campaign.

Northwestern barely won the first set, 25-23, then NWU came back and took over winning the second set, 25-15. The Red Raiders won the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-18.

NWU was led by Kelsey Elman who had 12 kills and 14 digs to record a double-double. The other Prairie Wolf player to reach double figures in kills was Laura Brammeier with 10 kills.

Two Red Raider players had over 20 kills led by Hillary Hanno with 22 kills. Randa Hulstein recorded 21 kills with 13 digs.

Nebraska Wesleyan will play its third straight home match next Tuesday (Oct. 14) when they host Concordia University at 7:30 pm in Snyder Arena.
