October 28, 2008

Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore Erika Goldsmith is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Libero-of-the-Week for matches that were played Oct. 20-26. She becomes the first NWU volleyball player to receive GPAC player of the week recognition this season.

Erika GoldsmithGoldsmith (Omaha, Neb.) averaged 8.2 digs per set last week as the Prairie Wolves went 3-0 on the week in GPAC play. She had a team-high 39 digs in a 3-1 win at Briar Cliff in a match that helped the Prairie Wolves move up the GPAC standings. The 39 digs was Goldsmith’s second highest total of digs in her career.

The sophomore libero currently leads the GPAC in digs averaging 5.88 digs per game. She needs just 11 more digs this season to crack the NWU single-season Top 10 charts.

Nebraska Wesleyan has won five straight matches, and three straight in the GPAC. The Prairie Wolves travel to Crete, Neb., to face Doane College on Tuesday (Oct. 28) then return home for three straight matches.
