For the second straight week, a Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball player has been named the Association of Division III Independents Volleyball Player-of-the-Week. This week junior libero Erika Goldsmith was selected as the winner.
Goldsmith (Omaha, Neb.) averaged 6.67 digs per set as the Prairie Wolves went 4-1 for the week. At the Simpson College Tournament, Goldsmith recorded 122 digs to lead NWU to a perfect 4-0 record and the tournament championship, including a 3-1 upset over NCAA Division III No. 4 Carthage College.
She was named to the Simpson College Tournament All-Tournament Team after averaging 7.2 digs per set with three service aces.
The Omaha Skutt Catholic graduate has already moved up to seventh all-time on the NWU career dig charts. Goldsmith has 1,393 digs in her three-year career. She is currently on pace to move up to second all-time this season.
NWU is currently 11-3 overall and has completed the NCAA DIII portion of their schedule with a 10-2 record. The Prairie Wolves return to Great Plains Athletic Conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 23) with a trip to Seward, Neb., to face Concordia University.
