Hastings College ruined the Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team's 2009 home debut as the Broncos defeated the Prairie Wolves, 3-1, in Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night (Sept. 15) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
The Broncos took the first set, 25-19, but NWU bounced back to win set two 25-21 to even the match at 1-1. The final two sets were both competitive, but Hastings held off NWU for a pair of 25-22 victories.
Four different Hastings players reached double figures in kills and they were led by Kelsey Wells with 15.
Brittny Barber led NWU with 20 kills, while GPAC Player-of-the-Week Laura Brammeier had another double-double for the Prairie Wolves with 13 kills and 18 digs. Ashley Jedlicka handed out 38 assists for NWU.
The Prairie Wolves will now head to Indianola, Iowa this weekend to take part in the Simpson College Tournament. It will be the final NCAA Division III competition for the Prairie Wolves this season.
