Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore setter Caitlin Anderson has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) volleyball player of the week for matches played Oct. 9-15, as well as the Hauff/Great Plains Athletic Conference Setter-of-the-Week. This is the second time this season that Anderson has earned AD3I Player of the Week recognition.
Anderson (Plattsmouth, Neb.) posted four double-doubles as Nebraska Wesleyan went 3-1 at the Simpson College Invitational over the weekend, with their lone loss coming to #12 St. Thomas. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play in the four matches.
In two wins on Friday over Loras and Simpson Anderson led the team in both assists and digs. She had 41 assists and 23 digs against Loras and 36 assists and 26 digs against Simpson. She also posted double-doubles on Saturday with 25 assists and 10 digs in the loss to St. Thomas followed by 37 assists and 10 digs in a win over Monmouth. For the week she averaged 9.27 assists and 4.6 digs.
NWU finished their NCAA III portion of their schedule with a 8-4 record.
The Prairie Wolves return to GPAC action this Wednesday (Oct. 19) when they host Concordia University at Snyder Arena beginning at 7:30 p.m.
