Prairie Wolves Volleyball Players Headline All-AD3I Team

Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball players received several honors when the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent volleyball team was announced Dec. 8. Four NWU players were named to the All-AD3I teams with Laura Brammeier and Caitlin Anderson named to AD3I First-Team, and Kelsey Elman and Erika Goldsmith selected to the Second-Team. Brammeier was the AD3I Co-Player-of-the-Year and Anderson was the Rookie-of-the-Year. In addition, head coach Gina Chambers was named the co-Coach-of-the-Year.

Brammeier, a senior outside hitter from Lincoln, was named an AVCA honorable mention All-American and was also First-Team All-Central Region. This is the second straight season that Brammeier was selected to the All-AD3I First-Team. The Lincoln Southwest H.S., graduate finished her career with 1,235 kills to rank fifth all-time at NWU.

Anderson, a freshman setter from Plattsmouth, Neb., took over the starting setter duties midway through the season for the Prairie Wolves. She handed out 741 assists on the year averaging 7.56 assists per set. On the year she had six double-doubles and one triple-double.

Goldsmith was named to the second-team as the libero. The senior from Omaha, Neb., led NWU with 562 digs on the year. The Omaha Skutt H.S., graduate finished her career with 2,025 digs to rank second all-time in NWU volleyball history in digs.

Elman was selected to the AD3I Second-Team as an outside hitter. The Omaha, Neb., native was second on the team in kills (281), digs (335) and assists (312). She led the team with 40 service aces.

Nebraska Wesleyan had one of the most successful seasons in school history finishing the year 23-6 overall and qualifying for their seventh straight NCAA III Tournament.

The All-Independent volleyball teams were selected by the coaches from the Association of Division III Independent member schools. The Association of Division III Independents consists of 13 DIII independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes
