NWU Volleyball Falls to #20 in AVCA Poll

After dropping two matches last week, the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team fell to No. 20 in this week’s AVCA Division III Coaches poll that was released Tuesday (Nov. 2). The Prairie Wolves received 136 total points to fall to No. 20.

NWU is currently 22-5 on the season with their final regular season match of the 2010 season tonight at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves are 11-4 in GPAC play to sit in a tie for third in the league standings with Dordt College. The 11 conference victories are the most in school history and NWU will finish no longer than fourth in the GPAC standings, which is also the highest placing for NWU since the beginning of the GPAC in 2000.

Washington (Mo.) is still the No. 1 team in the nation at 28-2 overall receiving 15 first place votes. Wittenberg received seven first place votes and is ranked second, while Emory got the final two first place votes to be ranked third.

The Prairie Wolves are attempting to qualify for the NCAA III Postseason Tournament for the seventh straight season, and will find out their postseason fate on Monday, Nov. 9 when the NCAA Tournament field is announced in the morning.
