Gina Chambers
Head Coach

Gina Chambers is in her fourth season as Nebraska Wesleyan’s head volleyball coach. She served as interim head coach in 2004 and accepted the job on a full-time basis following the 2004 season.

Chambers has guided the team to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, and her career record against Division III opponents stands at 26-13. She also served as an assistant volleyball coach under Tom Symons in 2002 when the Prairie Wolves went 20-10 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III Championships.

Chambers, then Gina Duensing, earned four letters and was a four-year starter and All-Conference honoree as a Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball player from 1992-95. On NWU’s all-time charts, she ranks second in aces serves (204), third in solo blocks (95), fifth in kills (1,223) and total blocks (308), sixth in assisted blocks (213), single-season attack percentage (.309) and service aces (75), 10th in total blocks per game (0.71) and kills per game (2.84).

She was also a three-year letter winner and All-Conference selection in women’s basketball at Nebraska Wesleyan before graduating in 1997 with a degree in biopsychology.

Chambers earned her master’s degree in education administration with an emphasis in post-secondary athletic administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also teaches coaching theory and health and wellness classes for NWU’s department of Health and Human Performance. Chambers and her husband, Bren, have three daughters, Nyah, Taelyn and Bree.


Brooke BarnesBrooke Barnes
Assitant Coach

Brooke Barnes is in her third year as an assistant coach with the NWU volleyball program.

A native of Clifton, Kan., Barnes, then Brooke Lervold, played collegiate volleyball at Barton County Community College and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. At Barton County, Barnes helped the team to a pair of Final Four appearances at the Junior College National Volleyball Tournament, including a third-place finish in 1997 when she earned second team All-Conference honors from her right side hitter position. Barnes also played right side at UMKC from 1998-99.

Her previous coaching experience also includes three different junior club volleyball teams in Kansas and a variety of camps and clinics. Since her last appearance as a coach for NWU, Barnes has been involved with the Lincoln Southeast High School volleyball team as an assistant coach, and she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Doane College in May of 2005.

Barnes currently works full-time as the billing supervisor at Experian in Lincoln, where she and her husband, Cory, reside. They have a son and a daughter, Eastyn and Kooper.


Sharon BredehoftSharon Bredehoft
Assistant Coach


Sharon Bredehoft is in her first season with the Prairie Wolves. After receiving a scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1982 to 1986, Bredehoft went on to coach the JV volleyball team at Lincoln High School from 1986 to 1987. She then coached for the YMCA and other club programs while working summer volleyball camps.

Bredehoft, originally from Clinton, Iowa, earned a degree in Sports Management and currently works as the Executive Director of the Downtown Lincoln YMCA. She is married to her husband Gary. They have four children, Mike, Scott, Sydnie and Tobie.


mayerMaggie Mayers
Assistant Coach


Maggie Mayers is back for her fourth season as an assistant with Nebraska Wesleyan’s volleyball team.

Mayers, then Maggie Keller, graduated from NWU in 2004 after earning three letters as a volleyball player for the Prairie Wolves. For her career, she averaged 2.18 digs per game and helped Nebraska Wesleyan make the NCAA Division III Championships in both 2001 and 2002. As a senior, Mayers ranked second on the team with 58 ace serves. In 2000, she was named MVP of the junior varsity team.

Mayers majored in exercise science and wellness and K-12 health and physical education while at NWU. Currently, she is a third-year teacher for Omaha Public Schools, as she teaches K-6 physical education at Picotte Elementary. Mayers, her husband, Will, and son, Elijah, reside in Omaha.

Jen PospisilJen Pospisil
Assistant Coach

Jen Pospisil, formerly Jen Ripa, is in her second year as an assistant coach with the NWU volleyball team.

A native of Wilber, Neb., Pospisil was a member of Nebraska Wesleyan’s women’s basketball team in 2001 and 2002. While attending Wilber-Clatonia High School, Pospisil earned All-State honors as a junior and senior in both volleyball and basketball. She was also a four-year letter winner in volleyball and basketball, while also earning three letters in track. Additionally, Pospisil won the Wendy’s High School Heisman Bronze medal.

Since 2003, Pospisil has had the opportunity to coach the Wilber-Clatonia Juniors club volleyball team and she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Business-Psychology from NWU in 2005. Pospisil currently serves as an admissions counselor at Nebraska Wesleyan and resides in Cortland with her husband, Brian

Joe Held Joe Held
Student Assistant

Joe Held is back for a second year as a student assistant with the volleyball team. Some of his duties include assisting with drills during practice, scouting opponents, reviewing game film, taking stats during games and assisting with all equipment.

The senior is also a pitcher for the NWU baseball team. Last season, he made nine appearances on the mound for the Prairie Wolves en route to a 5.94 ERA. Held hails from Columbus, Neb., where he attended Columbus Scotus High School. He is majoring in accounting with a teaching endorsement in secondary business education and plans to graduate in the spring

Brandon Rohr Brandon Rohr
Student Assistant

Brandon Rohr is in his first season of working with the volleyball program, and will take over the duties previously held by Brent Ruth. As a sport management major, this experience is serving as his coaching practicum. Brandon will assist with practice management, scouting reports, game prep duties and tournament prep duties.

Brandon is also a shortstop for the NWU baseball team. With his three letters of experience, he started nine out of his 26 games played and earned a batting average of .294. Rohr graduated from Meridian High School in Tobias, Neb., and he is a senior this year with plans to graduate in the spring.
