The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team opened the 2010 season over Spring Break at the Tucson Invitational in Arizona. The Prairie Wolves had a successful trip as they finished the tournament with a 4-4 record.
NWU opened play on March 14 with a split of two games. They defeated Patten College, 4-2, then closed out the day with a 5-2 loss to Dakota Wesleyan University in nonconference action.
On Monday (Mar. 15), the Prairie Wolves ran into a formidable foe in No. 5 Lubbock Christian University. NWU fell 16-0 to the fifth ranked team in NAIA. They also lost 8-5 to Dickinson College in the other game of the day.
Nebraska Wesleyan suffered its fourth straight loss on Tuesday with a 8-3 setback to Missouri Valley College. NWU did come back and revenge their earlier loss to Dakota Wesleyan as they needed extra innings to beat the Tigers, 5-4.
The Prairie Wolves concluded their trip with a pair of blowout victories over Minnesota-Morris. NWU won 17-1 and 13-0 to complete the trip at 4-4.
NWU is scheduled to open home and Great Plains Athletic Conference play this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders. Weather permitting, NWU will host Sioux Falls on Friday night and Briar Cliff on Saturday afternoon.
