Becky Bomberger hit a solo home run in the top of the 8th inning to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 3-2 extra innings victory over Dordt College in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves completed the sweep with a 9-4 win in game two.

With the sweep the Prairie Wolves improve to 14-20 overall and 8-10 in the GPAC to keep their postseason tournament hopes alive. NWU needs a sweep over Mount Marty on Monday to join a group of four other teams at 10-10 in the GPAC.

NWU led game one 2-1 heading into the final inning, but just like the doubleheader at Northwestern on Thursday NWU couldn't hold the lead. The Defenders hit a solo home run to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

In the eighth, Bomberger ledd of the inning with the solo homer. Dordt did get two singles in the eighth, but they were stranded on base.

Brenna Maguire got the victory going all eighth innings allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts. Tieken was 3-4 with an RBI to lead the NWU offense.

Nebraska Wesleyan scored three runs in the top of the third inning of game two to jump ahead early. Once again it was Bomberger with the big blow as she delivered a two-run homer. NWU added two in the fourth on an RBI double by Brittni Eitzmann and RBI single from Kayla Randel. The Prairie Wolves got three unearned runs in the fifth as Anna Brownell hit a 2-run double.

Bomberger finished 3-4 with two RBI, while Tieken and Eitzman were 2-4.
