Nebraska Wesleyan University freshman softball player Marcia Kennedy has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Player-of-the-Week for the week of April 7-13, 2008.
Kennedy, a freshman outfielder from Omaha, Neb., hit .750 on the week while going 9-12 at the plate. She also added four RBIs with a slugging percentage of .917 as the Prairie Wolves went 3-1 on the week.
The Omaha Burke High School graduate is batting .333 with 1 home run and 10 RBIs in her first season of collegiate softball. She has six multi-hit games on the season and is currently on a five-game hitting streak.
This is the second straight week that a NWU player has garnered GPAC Player-of-the-Week honors after Klancy Nixon received the recognition last week.
Nebraska Wesleyan currently has a 16-10 overall record and has won six of their last seven games. They host Mount Marty College Wednesday (Apr. 16) in the final home game of the season.
