Nixon Named NFCA All-Region in Softball

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior shortstop Klancy Nixon was named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region Team that was released on May 6. Nixon was named to the Midwest Region Third-Team as an infielder. She becomes the first softball player in NWU history to be named a Division III All-Region performer.

Klancy Nixon becomes first NWU softball player to earn Division III All-Region Honors.Nixon (SS, Sr.) led the team with a .385 batting average and had a team-high 47 hits this season. The Norfolk, Neb., native also led the team in triples (5), home runs (4), RBIs (28) and stolen bases (16). Nixon was named to the All-GPAC First-Team this season after earning All-GPAC Second-Team honors as a junior in 2007. 

After three seasons, she will leave NWU as one of the most decorated players in school history. She started every game at shortstop for NWU during the past three seasons. Her name appears on 13 NWU season and career all-time top 10 lists. She ranks in the NWU career top 10 in runs (7th, 79), doubles (9th, 21), triples (4th, 10), home runs (T-3rd, 7), RBI (10th, 59), stolen bases (4th, 31) and assists (10th, 207). 

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2008 season with a 22-16 overall record. The Prairie Wolves finished 12-12 in the GPAC to place ninth in the league.
