The first Great Plains Athletic Conference weekly softball awards were announced Tuesday (Mar. 17), and a Nebraska Wesleyan player was the first honoree. Sophomore pitcher Alysia Wittmaack is the GPAC Pitcher-of-the-Week for her performance in the Dallas Tournament last weekend.
Wittmaack (Lincoln, Neb.) was 4-0 for the Prairie Wolves with a save as NWU went 5-1 in Irving, Texas. Wittmaack put up outstanding numbers striking out 29 and walking 0 in 21 innings of work. Over five games she allowed just one earned run.
Nebraska Wesleyan has a 6-4 record to start the season and will open GPAC play at home this week. The Prairie Wolves host Dakota Wesleyan University in the home opener on Thursday (Mar. 19) at 5 pm at University Place Park.
