NWU Extends Winning Streak To Four

Nebraska Wesleyan won its fourth straight game as the Prairie Wolves swept Colorado College in a nonconference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 11) at University Place Park in Lincoln, Neb. NWU won game one, 9-1, then took the second game 4-2.

Sophomore pitcher Alysia Wittmaack struck out 12 batters in game one to pick up her 10th victory of the season. She now has 122 strikeouts on the season which is three short of the NWU season record.

Dani Bryant led a balanced offensive attack for the Prairie Wolves as she was a perfect 4-4 with three runs scored. Jamie Jaques was 2-4 with four RBI and a double.

The Prairie Wolves jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and then closed the game in the sixth in a game that was called due to the run rule.

Colorado College led off game two with a home run as Alysaa Kallweit hit a homer in the first at-bat of the game to put the Tigers up 1-0.

NWU answered in the second as Allison Brandt hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

Both teams scored a run in the third inning as Jenna Turner drove in Dani Bryant with a single. NWU then broke open the tie in the fifth with two runs. Kelsey Worley had an RBI double, then scored on a single by Turner.

The Prairie Wolves now prepare for a busy week that will have them playing 10 games in six days starting on April 14.
