Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 4-1 on the early season as they swept past Bethel College (Kan.) in easy fashion on Tuesday (Mar. 12) in North Newton, Kan. The Prairie Wolves won 19-4 in five innings in the first game, then took the second game, 14-2.

May 21

Nebraska Wesleyan University had two softball players named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Senior outfielder Dani Bryant and junior infielder Megan Tieken were both named to the Academic All-America® Third Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan University had four members of the softball team on the 2012 All-Independent Softball team that was announced by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). Senior pitcher Brenna Maguire and sophomore outfielder Becky Bomberger were First-Team selections, while Lauren Bodfield and Dani Bryant were chosen to the Second-Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan University placed seven members of the softball team on the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference team that was announced Tuesday (May 8). NWU sophomore Becky Bomberger was named to the All-GPAC First-Team to highlight the Nebraska Wesleyan selections.

Three Nebraska Wesleyan University softball players have been honored as Capital One/Academic All-District 6 selections in the NAIA College division. Junior infielder Megan Tieken, senior outfielder Dani Bryant, and senior pitcher Brenna Maguire were all recognized as Academic All-District.

April 30

Needing a doubleheader sweep to qualify for the GPAC Softball Postseason Tournament, the Nebraska Wesleyan softball team came up short as Mount Marty defeated the Prairie Wolves 4-1 in game two on Monday night (Apr. 30) at University Place Park in Lincoln. The Prairie Wolves did win game one, 8-4.

April 28

Becky Bomberger hit a solo home run in the top of the 8th inning to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 3-2 extra innings victory over Dordt College in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves completed the sweep with a 9-4 win in game two.

April 26

Nebraska Wesleyan held a 4-1 lead over GPAC leading Northwestern College heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but the Prairie Wolves couldn't hold on as the Red Raiders scored four runs to come away with a 5-4 victory in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Thursday (Apr. 26) in Orange City, Iowa. Northwestern then completed the sweep with a 6-2 win in game two.

April 25

With the tying run on third base and winning run on first base, Brenna Maguire came in to pitch and retired the next three batters as Nebraska Wesleyan held off Doane College, 5-4, in game two of a GPAC softball doublheader on Senior Night and Strike Out Cancer Night (Apr. 25) at University Place Park in Lincoln. Doane won the first game, 2-1, for the doubleheader split.

April 22

A five-run fifth inning propelled Nebraska Wesleyan into the lead and they would hold on for a 10-6 victory over Dakota Wesleyan in game two of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 22) in Mitchell, S.D. DWU won game one easily, 9-1, in five innings.

April 18

Brenna Maguire singled back up the middle to drive in Kiersten Streff with the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth as Nebraska Wesleyan broke open a tie game and held on for the 5-4 victory over Concordia University in game two of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Wednesday night (Apr. 18) in Lincoln. The Bulldogs defeated the Prairie Wolves, 2-0, in the first game of the night.

April 14

Due to the threat of severe weather in Lincoln, the GPAC softball doubleheader between Nebraska Wesleyan and Mount Marty scheduled for Saturday (Apr. 14) at 2:00 has been postponed.

April 13

The GPAC softball doubleheader between Nebraska Wesleyan and Dakota Wesleyan scheduled for Friday night (4/13) in Mitchell, S.D., has been postponed due to weather. The game will now be played Sunday, April 22 in Mitchell with the games starting at Noon.

April 10

Nebraska Wesleyan scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and then held on for a 7-5 victory over Midland University in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Tuesday evening (Apr. 10) at University Place Park in Lincoln. Midland came back to win game two, 9-1, in five innings.

April 10

Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore catcher Kayla Randel has been honored as this week’s Great Plains Athletic Conference /Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Player-of-the-Week for the week of April 2-8.

April 7

Nebraska Wesleyan won the first three games of the tournament, but ran out of steam in the championship game as Washington University (Mo.) defeated the Prairie Wolves, 13-2, in six innings in the championship of the Grinnell College softball tournament this weekend (Apr. 6-7) in Grinnell, Iowa.

April 5

For the fourth straight doubleheader the Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team split a doubleheader as they split with York College on Thursday (Apr. 5) at York, Neb. The Panthers won game one, 2-0, with the Prairie Wolves bouncing back to take game two, 3-2.

April 3

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Nebraska Wesleyan took advantage of a Buena Vista error then Brenna Maguire hit a game-winning infield single to drive in Lisa Kopf as the Prairie Wolves came back to defeat the Beavers, 3-2, in game two of a softball doubleheader on Tuesday (Apr. 3) at University Place Park in Lincoln. Buena Vista won game one of the doubleheader, 2-1.

March 31

Brenna Maguire took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and earned the complete game victory as Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Briar Cliff University, 8-3, in game one of a Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 31). BCU came back to win game two, 6-2.

March 28

Lance Kingery has announced his decision to resign as the head softball coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University due to personal reasons. His resignation will be effective immediately.
