Nebraska Wesleyan University senior softball player Marcia Kennedy was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Softball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Kennedy was named to the Academic All-America® Third-Team in the college division.

Bryant and Kennedy Named NFCA All-Region

Nebraska Wesleyan had two softball players selected to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA All-Region team. Junior outfielder Dani Bryant was selected to the Southwest Region First-Team while senior first baseman Marcia Kennedy was chosen to the Second-Team.

NWU Puts Seven on All-Independent Softball Team

Seven Nebraska Wesleyan University softball players were voted to the 2011 All-Independent Softball Team that was announced today by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). Pitcher Alysia Wittmaack, first baseman Marcia Kennedy and outfielder Dani Bryant were on the AD3I First-Team, pitcher Brenna Maguire, third baseman Jessica Weingarten and outfielder Megan Beckstead got voted to the AD3I Second Team while Becky Bomberger received honorable mention honors as a utility player.

Eight NWU Softball Players Named All-GPAC

Nebraska Wesleyan University placed eight members of the softball team on the 2011 Great Plains Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference team that was announced Tuesday (May 10). NWU senior Marcia Kennedy was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Player-of-the-Year.

Four Prairie Wolves Honored as Academic All-District Selections

Four Nebraska Wesleyan University softball players have been honored as Capital One Academic All-District VII selections. Three NWU Players were named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District First team as senior outfielder Megan Beckstead, junior outfielder Dani Bryant and senior First baseman Marcia Kennedy were all on the first team. Senior pitcher Alysia Wittmaack was named Second-Team All-District honors.

Softball Season Ends at GPAC Tournament

Nebraska Wesleyan's successful softball season came to an end on Friday (May 6) on day two of the 2011 GPAC Postseason Tournament at the SYA Complex in Sioux City. The Prairie Wolves fell 4-0 to top-seeded Morningside College in an elimination game to finish the season with a 28-9 overall record.

Bomberger's Blast Gives NWU 7-6 Comeback Win

Becky Bomberger sent a blast over the right field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in three runs and give Nebraska Wesleyan a 7-6 lead and they would hold on for the victory over Doane College in an elimination game at the GPAC Postseason Softball Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

Nebraska Wesleyan senior pitcher Alysia Wittmaack is this week’s Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for the final regular season week of the 2011 season.

NWU Softball is No. 2 Seed in GPAC Postseason Tournament

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team received the No. 2 seed for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament that will be played this week (May 5-7) at the SYA Complex in Sioux City, Iowa.

Softball Ends Year With a Pair of Splits

The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team recorded a pair of doubleheader splits to end the 2011 regular season. On Friday at Sioux Falls the Cougars won game one 5-2, with NWU taking the nightcap 7-2. The same happened on Saturday at Briar Cliff as the Chargers were 5-2 winners in game one and NWU bounced back with a 6-4 win in the nightcap.

Softball Begins Week With Sweep of Mount Marty

Kayla Randel hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning to drive in Anna Brownell to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 4-3 extra innings victory over Mount Marty College in game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Wednesday (Apr. 27) in Yankton, S.D. Alysia Wittmaack threw a two-hit shutout in game two to give NWU a 6-0 win and complete the sweep.

Big Week Garners Kennedy Player of the Week Honors

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior softball player Marcia Kennedy was rewarded for her outstanding play last week by being named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Softball Player-of-the-Week as well as the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Softball Player-of-the-Week for the week of April 17-24.

Six Run 7th Spoils Senior Night

Hastings College rallied from three runs down and scored six runs in the top of the seventh to down Nebraska Wesleyan, 9-6, in the second game of a GPAC softball twinbill on Thursday night (Apr. 21) at University Place Park in Lincoln. NWU won the first game in a slugfest 12-10, on senior night for the Prairie Wolves.

Hot Bats Help NWU Sweep Past Doane

Nebraska Wesleyan got double digit hit performances in both games of the doubleheader as the Prairie Wolves swept past Doane College, 7-5, 9-6, in a GPAC softball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 20) in Crete, Neb.

Softball Receives Votes in NAIA Top 25

The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team received three points in this week's NAIA Softball poll, the first time the Prairie Wolves have been seen in the poll this year. It is the first that the Prairie Wolves have received votes in the NAIA Poll since the 1993 season when they received votes in the fifth poll released April 26, 1993.

Extra Inning Explosion Gives NWU Split with Midland

Nebraska Wesleyan scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning as they broke open a 3-3 tie and went on to the 9-3 extra innings victory over Midland in the second game of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Tuesday night (Apr. 12) in Fremont, Neb. The Warriors won game one, 4-0, to snap the Prairie Wolves five-game winning streak.

Softball Sweeps Concordia to Move in First Place in GPAC

Nebraska Wesleyan softball extended their winning streak to five games and climbed up into a tie for first place in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings with a doubleheader sweep over Concordia on Wednesday night (Apr. 6) in Seward, Neb. NWU won game one, 8-1, then blanked the Bulldogs 9-0 in the nightcap.

Wolves Sweep Morningside For Kingery's 200th Win

Two of the top teams in GPAC softball played a remarkable doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 3) afternoon at University Place Park in Lincoln, Neb., with Nebraska Wesleyan coming out on top over conference favorite Morningside in both games. NWU won a classic pitcher's dual, 1-0, in the opening game, the rallied from six runs down to earn a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
