May 11

Nebraska Wesleyan University had four players named to the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent softball team that was announced Monday (May 11). Alysia Wittmaack, Marcia Kennedy and Jenna Turner were named to the First-Team, while Dani Bryant was chosen to the second team. In addition, Wittmaack was selected as the AD3I Pitcher-of-the-Year.

May 4

Five members of the Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team were named to the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference team that was announced Monday (May 4).  NWU sophomore designated player Jenna Turner, sophomore outfielder Marcia Kennedy and freshman outfielder Dani Bryant were on the All-GPAC Second Team.  Senior Kelsey Worley and sophomore Alysia Wittmack both received honorable mention All-GPAC. 

April 25

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team ended the 2009 season with a pair of victories over University of Sioux Falls on Saturday (Apr. 25) in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Prairie Wolves swept the Cougars with scores of 5-0 and 3-1. The doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at Briar Cliff was rained out and will not be made up.

April 23

Hastings College pounded out 20 hits in game one to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan 14-1 in five innings in game one, then took advantage of five Prairie Wolves errors to win game two, 3-2, and sweep the Great Plains Athletic Conference softball doubleheader on Thursday night (Apr. 23) at University Place Park in Lincoln.

April 21

The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally from a three-run deficit to win game two of the GPAC doubleheader, 9-8, over Dana College on Tuesday night (Apr. 21) in Lincoln, Neb. The Prairie Wolves scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to get a 4-3 extra innings win in the first game.

April 17

Morningside scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and stranded two Nebraska Wesleyan runners in the bottom of the inning to pick up a 2-0 extra innings victory and secure the doubleheader sweep on Friday night (April 17) in Lincoln, Neb. The Mustangs held NWU to three infield hits in game one to win, 4-1.

April 15

The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team left 19 combined runners on base in a Great Plains Athletic Conference softball doubleheader and lost a pair of one run games to Concordia University Wednesday in Seward, Neb. The Bulldogs won game one, 3-2, in nine innings, then took the nightcap, 5-4. The losses snap the Prairie Wolves six-game winning streak as NWU falls to 16-12, 8-6 GPAC.

April 14

Alysia Wittmaack struck out 15 batters in the complete game victory in game one at Mount Marty College to lead the Nebraska Wesleyan softball team to a doubleheader sweep. Wittmaack now has 137 strikeouts on the season to set the new NWU single season record.

April 11

Nebraska Wesleyan won its fourth straight game as the Prairie Wolves swept Colorado College in a nonconference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 11) at University Place Park in Lincoln, Neb. NWU won game one, 9-1, then took the second game 4-2.

April 10

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team climbed back over the .500 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings with a doubleheader sweep over Northwestern College on Friday in Lincoln. NWU won game one, 6-1, then took game two, 4-2.

April 1

Alysia Wittmaack struck out 12 batters in a complete game 2-hit shutout victory to lead Nebraska Wesleyan University to a 1-0 win over Midland Lutheran College in game one of a Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader on Wednesday (Apr. 1) at Fremont, Neb. The Warriors came back to beat NWU, 9-1, in five innings in game two.

March 25

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team made a late push in the final inning of both games of a doubleheader, but came up one run short in each game as Simpson College swept a pair of games from NWU, winning 7-6, and 6-5 on Wednesday (Mar. 25) in Indianola, Iowa.

March 24

Amber Remmers hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Doane complete the doubleheader sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball action on Tuesday afternoon in Crete. Doane won game won 6-1, then rallied for the 6-5 victory in game two.

March 19

The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team made a successful home debut on Thursday night (March 19) as they swept Dakota Wesleyan University in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball action at University Place Park. The Prairie Wolves won game won, 6-2, then took the nightcap 7-5, to start the GPAC season 2-0.

March 17

The first Great Plains Athletic Conference weekly softball awards were announced Tuesday (Mar. 17), and a Nebraska Wesleyan player was the first honoree. Sophomore pitcher Alysia Wittmaack is the GPAC Pitcher-of-the-Week for her performance in the Dallas Tournament last weekend.

January 26

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team was picked to finish eighth in the 2009 preseason Great Plains Athletic Conference Coaches' poll that was released on Monday (Jan. 26). The poll was voted on by all 12 coaches with points awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.
