Alysia Wittmaack Named GPAC Pitcher of the Week

Nebraska Wesleyan senior pitcher Alysia Wittmaack is this week’s Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for the final regular season week of the 2011 season.

Alysia WittmaackWittmaack (Lincoln, Neb.) made three starts and complete game victories in all three last week, including a two-hit shutout over Mount Marty. She struck out 19 and walked only three leading the Prairie Wolves to a record of 4-2 on the week.

The Lincoln East H.S., graduate went over 500 career strikeouts with her 19 strikeout performance last week. She now has 501 strikeouts during her four-year career and now holds the NWU school record by 232 over second place on the career charts.

On the season Wittmaack ended the regular season with a 7-1 record, two saves and 1.77 ERA after missing the first month of the season with injury. She had 48 strikeouts and only six walks in 68 1/3 innings.

For her career, Wittmaack now holds nine NWU pitching records including career wins (46), career strikeouts (501) and career ERA (2.09). She was named the NWU Outstanding Female Senior Athlete earlier this spring.
