NWU Softball Named NFCA All-Academic Team

The Nebraska Wesleyan University softball team was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a 2010 girls got game/NFCA Top Ten All-Academic Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan, under head coach Lance Kingery, had a 3.400 team GPA in 2010 to finish 10th among all NAIA Softball teams last season. NWU was the only Great Plains Athletic Conference school to receive the award, as well as the only college/university in Nebraska to be in the top 10 in any division.

NWU also had nine players honored as NFCA All-Academic Scholar Athletes. The Prairie Wolves that were honored were: Alysia Wittmaack, Anna Brownell, Dani Bryant, Desi Jones, Heather Stang, Krista Wearden, Marcia Kennedy, Megan Beckstead and Megan Tieken.

Nebraska Wesleyan had one of its top seasons in school history in 2010. The Prairie Wolves finished 27-14 overall giving them the second highest win total in school history. They were 17-7 in conference action to place second for the highest finish ever in GPAC play for a NWU softball team.
