Hranac Receives Academic All-District Honors

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University senior pitcher Tom Hranac was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team that was announced on Thursday (May 8). Hranac was voted to the District 7 Second-Team in the college division. This is the second straight season that Hranac received Academic All-District Second-Team recognition.
Hranac, a Lincoln, Neb., native, has a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Spanish and history major. He finished the season with a 3-6 record as NWU’s No. 2 starting pitcher. During his four-year career at NWU, Hranac compiled a 12-12 record with 84 strikeouts. He entered three different career top 10 charts at the completion of his senior season. Hranac finished his career tied for fifth with 40 appearances and is seventh in innings pitched with 167 2/3. He also is tenth at NWU in career earned run average with a 4.67 ERA.
Hranac is the only GPAC player to be named Academic All-District on the first or second team in the college division of District 7.
Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport.
The All-District selection is determined by voting of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VII is comprised of NCAA Division II and Division III and NAIA institutions from the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
