NWU Will Face Southern Nazarene at NAIA Championships
Lincoln, Neb. –The official brackets for the 2008 NAIA Women's Tennis Championships were released Wednesday afternoon (May 7). Nebraska Wesleyan will match up against Southern Nazarene University in the first round on Monday, May 12 in Mobile, Ala., at 9 am.
The winner of the match will face the 7th-seed Berry College (Ga.) in the second round. Complete bracket
This will be the second time the two teams have met this season. Southern Nazarene defeated NWU, 7-2, in the first meeting between the two teams on April 5 at a neutral site in North Newton, Kan. Southern Nazarene, located in Bethany, Okla, is the Region IV Representative. They were ranked 10th in the most recent NAIA Top 25 poll.
This is the second straight year the NWU women have qualified for the NAIA Championships after qualifying for the first time in school history in 2007.
NWU has an overall record of 15-8 this season. The Prairie Wolves shared the regular season GPAC championship with Dordt College after finishing with a 7-1 conference record.
The NAIA Championships will be held May 12-16 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. The tournament features 24 teams with 14 automatic qualifiers and 10 at-large selections.
