Holmes Earns Player-of-the-Week Honors
LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University freshman Jamie Holmes was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference/Hauff Mid-America Sports men's tennis Player-of-the-Week honors for the week of April 14-20.
Holmes (Fr., Grand Island, Neb.) defeated Creighton's number one singles player, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in a dual match versus the NCAA Division I opponent. He then teamed up with his older brother Eric Holmes to take Creigton's number one doubles team to the limit in an 8-6 loss. On the season Jamie Holmes is 13-3 at No. 1 singles as a freshman.
This is the second time this season that Holmes has earned the GPAC Player-of-the-Week recognition.
The Nebraska Wesleyan men are a perfect 4-0 in GPAC matches this season and are on top of the conference standings.
