Kingery Becomes All-Time Leader in Wins
 LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University head softball coach Lance Kingery has become the all-time leader in career wins in NWU softball history. With the 11-3 victory over Grinnell College on Friday afternoon, Kingery earned his 123rd win to pass Doug Ahlberg for most career victories in NWU softball history. NWU went on to win the Grinnell Tournament championship, and then swept Buena Vista University on Sunday to give Kingery 127 career wins.
Kingery, who became the head softball coach at NWU in 2002, now has an overall coaching record of 127-118 (.518) in seven seasons. It took Kingery 64 fewer games to reach the 123-win mark then it did for Ahlberg. Ahlberg was 122-184 as the NWU head softball coach from 1988-1996.
Kingery is the only softball coach in NWU history to have a winning percentage over .500 with more than one season of coaching. He has posted winning records in four of the six seasons that he has coached.
During his tenure, Kingery has led the Prairie Wolves softball program to its best record in school history when NWU finished the 2004 season with a 28-12 record. The team tied for second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, its highest finish since the league was formed in 2000. Last season he guided the team to its second best season posting a final record of 24-12.
Nebraska Wesleyan currently has a 13-9 overall record and has won five of its last six games. At the Grinnell College Tournament this past weekend, the Prairie Wolves finished 3-1 and defeated NCAA III #15 Washington University (Mo.), 3-2, in the championship game.
