NWU Sweeps Buena Vista in Softball
Lincoln, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan pitchers held Buena Vista to a combined eight hits as the Prairie Wolves swept the Beavers in a softball doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 6) at University Place Park in Lincoln, Neb. NWU won game one, 6-3, then shut out BVU, 6-0, in the second game.
The Prairie Wolves (13-9) scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away for the 6-3 win in the first game. Heather Stang had an RBI single, and Erin Starkey scored on a wild pitch for the other run.
Ashley Tiedgen got the win on the mound throwing a complete game five-hitter. She allowed three runs, but none of them were earned. Offensively, six NWU players had a hit, while Stang led the way with two RBI.
Alysia Wittmaack was the story of game two as she struck out nine batters in her complete game shutout victory. Wittmaack allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter.
Marcia Kennedy, Jamie Jaques and Kelsey Worley all had two hits for the Prairie Wolves.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns to GPAC action on Wednesday (Apr. 9) when they host Midland Lutheran College in a doubleheader at 5 pm.
