Five Earn All-American in Track & Field

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Wesleyan University men’s 4x400 relay team was the National Runner-up at the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 14-15 at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.

Seniors Chris Wolf (Ceresco, Neb.) and Jason Peters (Lincoln, Neb.) joined junior Derek Carson (Lincoln, Neb.) and sophomore Andy Coppersmith (Wallace, Neb.) to run a 3:20.29 to earn All-America honors in the 4x400 relay.  NWU was second behind the Wisconsin-La Crosse team that ran a 3:19.67.

Earlier in the day, Chris Wolf picked up another All-America honor by placing eighth in the 400-meter dash.  Wolf ran a time of 50.15 to earn his seventh All-America honor in track & field.

The Nebraska Wesleyan men finished with 9.0 team points to end the National Championships in a tie for 22nd place.

For the NWU women, senior hurdler Holly Andrews (Seward, Neb.) capped off her successful senior season by placing third in the 55 meter hurdles.  Andrews ran a time of 8.12 to set a new school record in the 55-meter dash.  Andrews’ time of 8.12 broke the school record of 8.14 set by NWU Hall of Famer Kim Oden in 1991.  Sumer Rohrs from Frostburg State won the title with a NCAA III season best time of 7.96.

Two other Prairie Wolves women competed at the NCAA Championships in the high jump.  Sophomore Mikeala Richard (Lincoln, Neb.) had a jump of 5-3 ¼ to place in a tie for 12th.  Junior Jenna Davies (Columbus, Neb.) also competed in the high jump.

The NWU women finished with six team points to end in a tie for 33rd.
