Minzel Reaches 1,000 Point Plateau
Lincoln, Neb. –Nebraska Wesleyan University senior guard Marcus Minzel reached the 1,000 point plateau Wednesday night (Feb. 20), in an 82-60 loss to Midland Lutheran College.
Minzel entered the game with 990 points and at the 15:41 mark of the first half he connected on a 3-pointer to give him 1,000 points for his career. He ended the game with a team-high 22 points to give him 1,012 career points. Minzel was an All-GPAC Second-Team selection in 2006-07 and is currently averaging a team-high 13.3 points per game.
Minzel is the 32nd Nebraska Wesleyan men’s basketball player to score at least 1,000 points. He becomes the first NWU men’s basketball player to reach 1,000 points since Seth Harms accomplished the feat in the 2001-02 season. He now ranks 30th in NWU history with his 1,012 points.
He also moved into a tie for eighth place in career 3-point field goals. For his career, Minzel has connected on 121 3-point baskets to tie Mark Yost for eighth all-time.
