Prairie Wolves add seven recruits in men’s golf
LINCOLN, Neb. – Head Coach Brett Balak released
the names of seven recruits who have said they’ll enroll at
Nebraska Wesleyan University and play men’s golf.
“Overall, this is a solid class,” Balak
said. “Together with our returning players, we hope to be
in the hunt for another national title in the near future.”

Bijan Koohmaraie, Clay Center, Neb. (Clay Center)
Geoffrey Oliphant, Billings, Mont. (Billings)
Patrick Hanzel holds the high school boys state
record for the lowest individual round score (63), has been a member
of the Nebraska-Kansas Cup team and also qualified for the U.S.
Junior Amateur. In addition, Kyle Jaacks won the Nebraska Junior
Amateur tournament on July 9 and was a member of the 2007 Class
A Champions in golf at Lincoln Southwest, while Geoffrey Oliphant
has finished among the top four individuals twice at the state golf
tournament in Montana.
The Prairie Wolves have placed among the top 10 teams at the NCAA
Division III Men’s Golf Championships in each of the last
four years and won the national team title in 2006. Nebraska Wesleyan
tied for 10th in 2007 with a trio of first-year players competing
for the varsity team, including PING Division III Third Team All-American
and Phil Mickelson Award winner Nate Jaeger.
