2006 Season Wrap-up

Junior Chris Dunker propelled the Nebraska Wesleyan men to their 10th consecutive team appearance at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships by winning the Central Region individual crown on Nov. 11. His 8K time of 25:37.60 helped the Prairie Wolves place fifth and earn an at-large invitation to the national meet.

One week later and despite extremely muddy conditions at the NCAA Championships course in West Chester, Ohio, Dunker placed 15th individually to earn USTCCCA All-America honors. The NWU men placed 22nd in the final team scoring.

Prior to the regional and national meets, NWU won its second conference title in a row and its seventh in the past eight seasons. Dunker was the individual runner-up, and NWU placed three others in the top 10, including senior Justin Lana (fifth), first-year runners Eric Noel (sixth) and Andrew Laflin (10th). These athletes, along with junior Cody Waite, earned All-GPAC recognition.

The Prairie Wolves ended the year ranked No. 20 in the Div. III rankings. NWU’s men also won the college division at the Loyola University (Ill.) Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Sept. 30 and placed second in the college division at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational on Sept. 16.
