2006 Season Wrap-up

After back-to-back losing seasons, the Nebraska Wesleyan men bounced back strong in 2006 on their way to a 10-7-1 overall record and a runner-up GPAC finish at 9-3. Despite being picked to finish fifth in the conference preseason coaches’ poll, NWU won six contests by a single goal en route to its best records since 2003.

After a 1-3 start, the Prairie Wolves won eight of their next 10 matches before dropping a 2-1 decision at home to eventual GPAC champ Hastings. NWU capped its season in a 2-2 tie with Colorado College on senior day.

Offensively, sophomore midfielder Chris Velez and junior midfielder Mitch Memming led the team with six goals apiece, while Memming also paced the team in points (14). He and junior defender Alex Precella were both named to the All-GPAC First Team, while Velez, Cole McCallum, Josh Miller, Andrew Synhorst and Ryan Waltz were each named honorable mention.
