RECRUITING CLASS ADDS DEPTH, TALENT TO NWU
TENNIS PROGRAMS
LINCOLN, Neb. — Head Tennis Coach Dr. Rick
Harley has released the names of 13 student-athletes, including
11 from Nebraska high schools, who have said they will enroll at
Nebraska Wesleyan University this fall and intend to play tennis
in 2005-06 for the Prairie Wolves.

MEDIA REMINDER: Nebraska Wesleyan University does
not give athletic scholarships or sign national letters of intent.
“I’m really excited about having these
incoming student-athletes competing for us,” Harley said.
“I feel there are several players who will contribute immediately
and help us add to the success our men and women have enjoyed."
All five men competed at the state high school
tennis tournament in 2004, including Eric Holmes and Corey Tallman,
who both made it to State in Class A at No. 1 doubles. Tallman placed
third and Holmes, who went 37-5 during the season, advanced to the
quarterfinals. Scott Ronshaugen also advanced to the quarterfinal
round in Class A at No. 2 singles and finished 34-3 in 2004. Austin
Henslee made it to the second round at State in Class B No. 1 doubles,
and Chris Northup won No. 2 doubles in Class B.
For the women, Becca Brown won No. 2 doubles in
Class A earlier this year, while Natalie Brooks placed second in
Class B at No. 2 doubles. In addition, Mikayla Albin took fourth
and Mikaela Caudill advanced to the quarterfinals at No. 1 singles
in Class B.
In 2005, Nebraska Wesleyan’s tennis teams
both earned runner-up finishes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference
and advanced to the NAIA Region IV Championships.
