The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track & field teams combined to win 17 individual events at the Buena Vista Challenge on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves won nearly half of all the events as there were 35 individual events on the day.
Senior Anne Kersenbrock was the only multiple individual winner on the day as she won three different events. Kersenbrock won the long jump (5.49m), triple jump (10.88m) and the 55 meter dash (7.30). It was the second straight week that Kersenbrock won three individual events. It was the first time this season she competed in the triple jump.
Other women's winners were Amanda Brichacek (weight throw), Jordan Duncan (high jump), Jaime Pella (5,000m), Taylor Tacha (55m hurdles), Kate Hannon (mile), Lauren Liebig (800m) and Jackie Spelts (3,000m).
On the men's side, seven NWU men were individual winners. Those individual winners include: Joe Manley (long jump), Jay Wall (pole vault), Brian Copley (1 mile), Josh Wall (400 m), Jake Smrcina (1,000m), Harry Meginnis (200m) and Logan Watley (3,000m).
Other teams competing against the Prairie Wolves included Hastings College, Dana College, North Iowa C.C., Grinnell College and the host school Buena Vista.
Nebraska Wesleyan now prepares for its biggest meet to date as they will compete in the 2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 20 at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln.
