Senior Anne Kersenbrock placed in the top five in three different events to lead Nebraska Wesleyan placers at the NWU Invitational on Friday (Jan. 22) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Kersenbrock was the lone NWU athlete to win an event as she was in the individual champion in the long jump with a mark of 18-3. She also had a good day in the sprints, placing second in the 200 and fourth in the 60 meter dash.
Freshman Taylor Tacha also had an impressive day for the Prairie Wolves. Tacha was third in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.14, finishing only behind an Olympian and a runner from Nebraska. She was fourth in the 400 in a time of 1:00.87.
For the men, the top NWU placer was Kyle Wagner who ran a solid race to place second in the 3,000. Wagner crossed the line in a time of 8:46.02 to finish second.
The 5,000 meter run was the successful for both the NWU men and women as they took third and fourth in both races. In the men's race, Brian Copley placed third and Ben Paben was fourth. For the women, Ashley Ermer was third and Jackie Spelts was right behind in fourth.
