The Nebraska Wesleyan University track & field teams opened the 2012 Outdoor season with some outstanding performances at the season opening Bronco Relays in Hastings, Neb., on Saturday (Mar. 31).
The Prairie Wolves won five individual events with three men and two women winning their individual event.
On the men's side, All-American Tommie Bardsley got his sophomore outdoor campaign off to a good start by winning the men's high jump in a height of 6'8. On the track, Nick Sawyer was the winner in the 400 meters in a time of 49.39. Also winning for the Prairie Wolves was Derrick McKenzie in the 400 hurdles. McKenzie ran a time of 55.34.
For the Nebraska Wesleyan women, Jillian Guerrero won the female long jump with a leap of 17'10.75. The final winner for the Prairie Wolves was senior Hannah Kinberg in the 10,000 meters. Kinberg posted a time of 39:39.95 to win the event.
The NWU track & field teams will make their home debut this Friday as they host rival Doane College in a dual at the Woody Greeno Track. Field events begin at 4:00 with the running to start at 5:30.
