Nebraska Wesleyan University will have 18 athletes competing at the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will take place May 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wis. Nine women and eight men have qualified for the track & field championships for the Prairie Wolves.

Senior Holly Andrews (Seward, Neb.) leads the NWU women qualifiers. Andrews has the second fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles after earning All-American honors by placing third in the 55-meter hurdles at the Indoor Championships.

Senior Lindsey Snowdon (Niobrara, Neb.) qualified in two events. Snowdon will compete in the heptathlon and the javelin. She enters the championships with the fourth highest point total in the javelin.

NWU has two qualifiers in the women’s long jump. Sophomores Anne Kersenbrock (O’Neill, Neb.) and Megan Mejstrik (Schuyler, Neb.) will compete on Thursday in the long jump.

The Prairie Wolves also have two athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Junior Bridget Baldwin (Omaha, Neb.) and senior Amanda Godemann (Lincoln, Neb.) will run Friday night.

Sophomore Mikaela Richard (Lincoln, Neb.) will compete in the women’s high jump. Richard enters the championships with the third highest jump (5-7).

Junior Katie Dobesh (Kearney, Neb.) is the final individual qualifier for the NWU women. Dobesh qualified in the 100-meter dash and will run Friday afternoon.

Dobesh will be joined by Andrews, Kersenbrock and sophomore Michelle Tiedtke (Stanton, Neb.) on NWU’s 4x100 meter relay.

The NWU men will have two relay teams competing on Thursday. The 4x100 team enters the meet with the third fastest time (40.92). On the relay team are seniors Jason Peters (Lincoln, Neb.) and Austin Novotny (Lincoln, Neb.) and juniors Dan Bittner (Fremont, Neb.) and Matt Glasnapp (Beaver Lake, Neb.). The 4x400 relay team enters with the eighth fastest time. Members of the 4x400 team are Peters, Derek Carson (Lincoln, Neb.), Andy Coppersmith (Wallace, Neb.) and Chris Wolf (Ceresco, Neb.).

Jason Peters also qualified individually in the 200 meters, while Dan Bittner qualified for the 100-meter dash.

The other individual qualifier for NWU is senior Evan Knight (Keystone, Neb.). Knight will compete in the 800 meters on Friday night.
