Nebraska Wesleyan jumper Tommie Bardsley has been named this week’s Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field co-field Athlete-of-the-week.
Bardsley (Beatrice, Neb.) won the high jump at the Concordia Classic with a career-best leap of 6-10.75. His height is the best in NCAA III this season and is tied for the top in the GPAC. Bardsley also moved up to 4th on the NWU All-Time Indoor chart for men’s high jump.
Two other GPAC men’s field athletes had the top marks in the country in their respective events this week to share honors with Bardsley. Northwestern high jumper Matt Huseman also cleared 6-10.75 to set the school record for the Red Raiders and equal Bardsley’s jump for top in the GPAC. His jump is the best in NAIA this season. Cody Weber from Hastings College had the NAIA’s best mark in the shot put after winning the Concordia Classic with a throw of 57-2.
Nebraska Wesleyan will host an indoor track & field meet this Saturday as they have the NWU Quad Meet beginning at 11 a.m., at Knight Fieldhouse on the NWU campus.
