Nebraska Wesleyan’s women’s and men’s indoor track & field teams appeared in the top 10 of this week’s NCAA Division III Track & Field Team Dual Meet Power rankings. The NWU women are ranked No. 7 with the men ranked No. 8.
The dual power rankings are based on a team’s total point score using the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. The NWU women had 118.75 points for their No. 7 ranking with University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh ranked No. 1 with 138.65 points. For the NWU men ranked No. 8, the Prairie Wolves had a point total of 129.97 with North Central College ranked No. 1 at 156.04 points.
Both the NWU men and women also moved up in this week’s U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches association (USTFCCCA) national team computer rankings in Division III. The Prairie Wolves men moved up six spots to No. 12 in the rankings with the Prairie Wolves women climbing two spots to No. 19.
In this week’s TFRRS “National Top 10” Nebraska Wesleyan has three athletes ranked in the top three of their respective events. On the men’s side, Tommie Bardsley currently has the nation’s best high jump with his mark of 6-10 ¾. For the women, junior Deanna Dirkschneider moved up to third in the shot put with her toss of 45-5, while senior Katie Schoen remains tied for third in the high jump at 5-7.
Nebraska Wesleyan will host the NWU Quad meet this Saturday (Feb. 4) at the Knight Fieldhouse. Joining the Prairie Wolves will be athletes from Sterling College, McPherson College, Wayne State College and Hastings College.
