Prairie Wolves Win Five Events at Concordia Classic

Nebraska Wesleyan won five individual events and had several season best marks on Saturday (Jan. 28) at the 2012 Concordia Classic Indoor Track & Field meet in Seward.

The Prairie Wolves won four events on the women's side and one men's event.

Hannah Kinberg continued her solid start to the season by winning the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:19.97. Sophomore Jillian Guerrero won the women's long jump with a distance of 17-4.25.

A pair of NWU women captured two top three finishes. Senior Katie Nelson won the 1,000 meters (3:12.36) and also finished third in the Mile (5:30.36). Katie Schoen ran a career-best time of 9.24 in the preliminaries and went on to win the 60 meter hurdles. Schoen also was second in the long jump with a height of 5-4.5.

Another top mark for the Prairie Wolves women was Deanna Dirkschneider in the shot put. Dirkschneider placed third but had a mark of 45-5 which is the third best toss in NCAA III this season.

For the men, it was Tommie Bardsley that had the outstanding performance of the day. Bardsley won the men's high jump and set a new career best at 6-10.75, which is the best jump in NCAA III this season.

Two other NWU men placed second in their respective events. John Kersenbrock was second in the long jump (23-5.5) and Jay Wall took second in the pole vault (15-1).

Nebraska Wesleyan will host the NWU Quad Meet on Feb. 4 at the Knight Fieldhouse.
