NWU Track & Field Teams Move Up in Top 25

Both the Nebraska Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track & field teams moved up the rankings in this week’s NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field poll that was compiled by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The NWU men are ranked No. 18, while the Prairie Wolves women are No. 21.

The NWU men jumped up four spots to No. 18 in NCAA III, while the women made a huge jump up 18 spots to No. 21. Both the Prairie Wolves men and women are ranked first in the Central Region in the Regional Team Index polls.

USTFCCCA also released the first edition of the “TFRRS Top 10”, which are the top 10 seeds for the NCAA meet so far. Nebraska Wesleyan has four individuals on the men’s side that have marks in the top 10 of their respective events, while three women appear in the top 10 list. For the men John Kersenbrock appears in both the 400 meters (3rd) and long jump (5th), while Tommie Bardsley is in the high jump (4th) and Jay Wall in the pole vault (9th). On the women’s side Katie Schoen (high jump) and Deanna Dirkschneider (shot put) are both third in their respective events while Hannah Kinberg is fifth in the 5,000 meters.

Nebraska Wesleyan will head to Seward, Neb., this Saturday (Jan. 28) to compete in the Concordia Invitational.
