The Nebraska Wesleyan track & field teams competed at the Scott Nisely Memorial Track Classic on Saturday (Jan. 31) at Doane College in Crete, Neb. Seven NWU women placed in the top three in their events, while six NWU men were in the top three.

Other teams that had athletes competing in the classic were Doane, Concordia, Nebraska-Kearney, Northwest Missouri State, Hastings, Pratt Community College, Tabor College, Sterling College, Dana.
The lone individual winner for the Prairie Wolves was in the men’s 800 where Quinn Lewandowski won with a time of 1:57.99. Teammate Eric Noel was third in the same event. Josh Wall placed second in the 400-meter dash (51.93) and Nick Green also placed second in the triple jump (46-1.25). Kevin Janata was third in the 55 hurdles and Charlie Shaffer finished third in the high jump.
For the NWU women, the Prairie Wolves did well in the horizontal jumps. Megan Mejstrick placed second in the long jump with a mark of 17-11.5, while Anne Kersenbrock was just behind her at 17-8.75. Mejstrik also placed third in the triple jump at 34-8.5. Kersenbrock took home third place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.52. Also placing in the top three for the NWU women were Allee Kuska second in the 400 (1:03.31), Amanda Brichacek tied for second in the weight throw (49-11) and Lauren Liebeg placed third in the 1,000-meter run (3:15.77).
Nebraska Wesleyan will have its first home event of the year on Friday (Feb. 6) when they host the NWU Quadrangular meet in Knight Fieldhouse.
