Nebraska Wesleyan opened the 2009 Outdoor Track & Field season on Friday at the Concordia University Invite in Seward, Neb. The Prairie Wolves won five events at the first meet of the season.

The Concordia Invite was moved up to Friday night from Saturday to beat the predicted bad weather.
Three NWU men were individual winners on Friday. The Prairie Wolves finished 1-2 in the 200 meter dash as Matt Glasnapp edged teammate Derek Carson. Glasnapp had a time of 21.92 while Carson ran a 21.94.
Kevin Janata was the winner of the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.98. Janata had the fifth best time heading into the finals before winning the event.
The other NWU athlete to win a event was Nick Green in the triple jump. Green set a career best mark with a winning leap of 47-2.50.
The NWU 4x100 relay team also won the event in a time of 42.04.
For the NWU women, Jackie Spelts was the lone individual winner as she won the 5,000 meter run in a time of 17:57.17. She beat out teammate Bridget Baldwin who placed second in a time of 18:09.95.
Anne Kersenbrock also had a good day for NWU as she placed second in two different events. Kersenbrock ran a time of 25.97 to finish second in the 200 meters, and also was second in the long jump with a mark of 18-1.75.
NWU's next event will be the annual Nebraska Wesleyan-Doane College dual on Friday night (Apr. 10) at Crete, Neb.
