The Nebraska Wesleyan University track & field teams both finished third place at the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships held Saturday (May 2) in Yankton, S.D. The NWU men scored 133 points to finish in third, 21 points behind Concordia University. The NWU women had 106 points to edge Hastings College by six points for third place. Doane College won both the men's and women's title.

Seven individuals won individual GPAC Championships for the Prairie Wolves on Saturday. Four men and three women each were crowned GPAC champions in their individual sports.
Matt Glasnapp highlighted the men's day as he was second highest individual scorer of the meet. He won the 200 with a time of 21.63, and was second in the 100 meters in a time of 10.80. He also ran on the 4x100 team that finished second.
Derek Carson won the 400 meter dash a time of 48.16, and was third in the 200 meters. Logan Watley was an individual winner as he took home medalist honors in the 1,500 with a time of 3:57.61. The lone winner in the field events was Dylan Aylward who had a toss of 189-5 to win the javelin.
For the Nebraska Wesleyan women, Bridget Baldwin won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:55.72 to set a new GPAC meet record. Baldwin also finished second in the 5,000 meter run.
In the field events, Anne Kersenbrock won the long jump with a mark of 18-6 1/2 to win that event. Amanda Brichacek was the individual champion in the hammer throw with a toss of 167-4.
