Prairie Wolves Win Team Race at NWU Quad Meet

Both the Nebraska Wesleyan women's and men's track & field teams won the team title at the 2013 NWU Quad Indoor Track & Field Meet that was held on Saturday (Feb. 2) at Knight Fieldhouse on the NWU campus. Competing teams were NWU, Wayne State, McPherson, Sterling and St. Mary (Kan.).

On the women's side, seven NWU women combined to win nine total events as the Prairie Wolves scored 167 team points to defeat Wayne State with 132 points.

Taylor Tacha and Ali Tewes were the double winners for the Prairie Wolves. Tacha won the 55 hurdles and the 200, with Tewes winning the 1,000 and 1 mile. Other event winners for the Prairie Wolves include Erin Twibell (55 meters), Erin Kautz (800), Gabi Jenkins (3,000), Sarah Oligmueller (Pole Vault), and Deanna Dirkschneider (shot put).

In the men's team race, NWU scored 196 team points to defeat second place Wayne State by nearly 100 points as they finished with 97.

Johnny Rutford was a double-winner as he finished first in the 1 Mile and 3,000 meters. Zach Lind won the 1,000 meters and Garrett Sellhorst was the triple jump winner.
